Place: American Legion Building Time: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm We'll be selling all sorts of donated items and baked goods. |
| Aug. 6 |
Place: St. Luke's Episcopal Church Time: 9:00 am to 1:30 pm Currently, we store and sort the supplies at St. Luke's now. On this day, we will move the supplies within St. Luke's and setup two areas for packing the supplies. There will be lifting (heavy and light) and sorting and counting of supplies to make sure that we have enough. The volunteers are usually adults and teenagers and we need about 50 people. |
| Aug. 7 |
Place: St. Luke's Episcopal Church Time: 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm AND 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm In the afternoon, we will actually pack the backpacks. This is a come and go event. We need about 400 people and volunteers of all ages are welcome. We have whole families that show up to pack. Starting at 6:00 pm, other folks are needed to help with setting up tables and arranging the backpacks for hand-out. Having over 2,000 backpacks to hand out the next day, we have to really organize so we can find the specific backpacks quickly. |
| Aug. 8 |
Place: St. Luke's Episcopal Church Time: 8:30 am to 6:30 pm We have 3 shifts of volunteers for handing out the backpacks. The first & largest group arrives at 8:30 am and as soon as we are ready we open the doors. That shift goes until 12:00. The next shift starts at 12:30 pm and goes to about 3:30 pm and then the last group works from 3:30 until 6:30 pm. On Monday, we prefer older teenagers and adults because it can be very chaotic and if we are not careful mistakes can happen. |
| Aug. 9 |
Place: St. Luke's Episcopal Church Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Things are a little slower as we try to contact the remaining people to come pick up the backpacks and hand out extra supplies to those who missed the cut-off for the original give-away. We start at 9:00 am and go to 12:00 for the first shift and the second shift goes from 12:00 until 3:00 pm. After that we still need additional help for about an hour cleaning up and moving supplies. |
| Aug. 10 |
Place: St. Luke's Episcopal Church Time: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm We'll do the final cleanup of the facilities and move remaining supplies back to our warehouse. |
